The Robinson R22 is widely regarded as one of the most successful and dependable light helicopters ever built. Designed and manufactured by the Robinson Helicopter Company, the R22 has been in continuous production since the late 1970s and has earned a global reputation for its simplicity, reliability, and efficiency. It is particularly popular among flight schools and private owners because it delivers solid performance at a fraction of the cost of larger aircraft.

One of the R22’s greatest strengths is its affordability. Its relatively low purchase price and modest operating costs make it an ideal platform for pilot training and personal use. Powered by a four-cylinder Lycoming engine, the R22 is remarkably fuel-efficient, typically burning around eight to ten gallons of fuel per hour. This economy allows students and operators to accumulate flight hours without the financial strain associated with more expensive turbine-powered helicopters. Despite its compact size, the R22 offers impressive performance, with cruise speeds of around 85-90 knots and a range of over 200 nautical miles
